CoP Code of Conduct

The AIPIO Board of Management established the Communities of Practice (CoP) to deepen our understanding of emerging domains of intelligence practice, and to foster professional development in these domains.

All participation in the AIPIO CoP requires adherence to this Code of Conduct (hereafter ‘the Code’).  If you fail to observe this Code, AIPIO reserves the right to delete your comments and/or remove you from the CoP.

If you can’t be polite, don’t say it.  Some topics require blunt talk.  Nonetheless, focus your remarks on positions, not personalities.  No personal attacks, obscenities, name calling, libel, defamation.  Do not post anything that could be taken as threatening, harassing, bullying, obscene, pornographic, sexist, or racist.  AIPIO wants everyone to feel comfortable while participating.

AIPIO reserves the right not to publicise rumours, allegations, conspiracy theories and other information which we know to be false or unsubstantiated. Don’t post anything on the site posing as someone else.

You specifically acknowledge and agree that AIPIO is not liable for any defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of any user.

Please stay on topic.  The CoP are closely aligned with emerging domains of intelligence practice.  Keep your comments to 400 words or fewer.  AIPIO reserves the right to edit/delete your comment if necessary.

Anything you post should be your own work.  You’re welcome to link to relevant content and to quote limited amounts from other people’s work with attribution, and any associated copyright notice as well as being consistent with ‘fair use’ principles of copyright law.

You are solely responsible for the content you post.  Once you click ‘Submit,’ consider your comment public and permanently archived.

AIPIO may list intelligence-related events, products, or services it believes may be of interest to the CoP.  Reference to any specific commercial products, process, or service by trade name, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise, does not necessarily constitute or imply its endorsement, recommendation, or favouring by AIPIO. 

If you have comments about AIPIO content or policies, don’t use the CoP discussion threads to air them.  For issues regarding AIPIO CoP content, or if you have any questions or concerns about this Code, use direct messaging to contact the CoP Convenor.
